Local Area
A little info on the local area

Royal Holloway, University of London, is not quite in London. Yet despite that, alhamdulillah, you’ll get the bonus of obtaining a University of London degree whilst studying in a peaceful and communal setting. Aside from the prayer room, which can be a hub at times where one can make many friends, the university is in quite a unique location. The local train station is Egham, which is 40 minutes from London Waterloo, i.e. central London. If you are arriving from abroad and want to take your time, there is an hour and a half bus journey (71) from London Heathrow Airport, Terminal 5.
The local community (see “Survival Guide”) occasionally organises functions that one can attend, and the university is in an area that is quite affluent (being close to Ascot and Windsor), so some students do find local prices of luxury goods to be a little high. Of course, students always find solutions, so if you are a fresher, don’t worry, as once you have adapted to this area you’ll swiftly find your way around.
We hope that this website and our Facebook pages will serve to benefit anyone new to this area. May Allah give us all success in this area and give you a good stay, and remember to make the most of wherever Allah has put you.
